Recently we installed a T56 in a 38 Chevy pickup. Here are some photos. We used an Abbott box to convert the spedo pulses into a mechanical drive to retain the origional speedo. We made up a remote shifter becaue teh owner wanted to keep his first Hurst shifter.

TRY TO GET THE CLUTCH, PRESSURE PLATE, THROWOUT BEARING AND THE HYD.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS STUFF, IT CAN BE PURCHASED FROM YOUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER IF YOU HAVE A VISA PLATINUM. THE ALTERNATIVE IS TO GO TO YOUR LOCAL ADVANCED AUTOPARTS STORE AND BUY THEM FOR A FOURTH OF THE PRICE. WE RECOMEND THAT YOU BUY THE OE HYD SYSTEM AS IT COMES ASSEMBLED AND PRE BLED.

WE FABRICATED THE FRONT PIVOT OUT OF A .25" PLATE AND A STEERING UNIVERSAL WE HAD LAYING AROUND. A TIEROD END OR BALL JOINT WILL WORK AS WELL. THE SHIFTER HASN'T BEEN ATTACHED YET.

YES, THAT'S A B&M SHIFTER. IT CAME WITH THE TRANS. THE STOCK WILL WORK QUITE WELL.

THE SHIFT RATIO CAN BE ADJUSTED BY MOVING THE FRONT PIVOT POINT UP TO SHORTEN AND DOWN TO LENGTHEN.
CROSSMEMBERS HAD TO BE REMOVED. EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE MOVED OVER. THE FLOOR PAN HAD TO BE BOWED IN THE FRONT. IT'S EASY TO SEE WHY THE SHIFTER HAD TO BE MOVED FORWARD.

BY MOVING THE LINK ON THE SHIFT LEVER THE RATIO OF TRAVEL CAN BE CHANGED.

Stuff an airconditioner in here.

Here's your bracket kit. This is a simple plug and pray operation. No Fabrication needed. LMAO

The brackets bolt up here and here.

The instructions say that the thermo tube goes in the side (shown above) But a phone call said it goes in this duct.

Like this..... A little bracket fabrication never hurt anyone.

There. Now that will work. These are the defroster ducts.

Fits like a dream. All the wires were way too long.

It took both of us to push that unit up under where it fit when we made the brackets

Jim wanted the controls hidden in the glove box so the face had to be cut down to fit.

The cut down unit was glued back together then mounted in place and the glove box mocked up. lol

Wood butchering is an important part of upholstery. We hid the air vents. They flip down when you need air. When up, they are hidden.

Jillee Bean working on the Sail Right. Jim wasn't concerned with hiding the lines. I like them hidden.

We wanted a clean firewall. Note the compact line setup coming out of the compressor. The lines were run down the side of the frame rail, up through the floor boards and covered with a new toeboard. No lines showing. Clean.
We made up the stainless ID plate in Illustrator and had the local trophy company burn it.
